Installing Fusion360 on a USB stick?

Just curious if this is even possible. My workstation at my day job does not permit installation of software, but it does permmit inserting a USB thumb drive for transfer of files and whatnot. I was thinking it would be really handy to have Fusion running while I was on my lunchbreak or whatnot and maybe getting some practice in.

I know some programs (video games mostly) can be run off a stick, albeit at reduced performance

I do not believe this is possible at this time. You may add this suggestion to the Fusion 360 IdeaStation for future consideration.

You are looking for the Fusion client to be installed on a USB stick and run it from there.  Am I right?  BTW, I am assuming you have internet access from your workstation.

Thanks,

Prabakar.

Yes, I am looking to install the client to a USB stick and run from there. With the advent of USB 2.0, the file transfer speed should be sufficient for decent performance. This would (in my opinion) make it even easier to visit a customer and show them concepts on their computing system. It would also permit people (students) to use University/College computers where installing software is disabled, but using an extrenal drive (like a USB stick) is permitted.

And yes, internet access is available at my station, as I wold assume it is at most other access points comparable to mine (college, library, customers computers)

Have you tried installing Fusion to your work machine? We don't use a traditional installer because we wanted to make sure that it could be installed on machines even when the user is not an administrator. Our default install goes in your user profile location and doesn't touch traditionally restricted folders like program files.

Oh, I can install anything I want on my workstation, that isn't the issue. My company doesn't have the sort of restrictions that others might. I've just been asked by management not to install anything without express permission, so this is more of an "on my honor" thing. I felt that if it was run through a USB stick I could still meet the request in good faith.

I suppose I can try to get approval, but there are some touchy circumstances surrounding me, my side business and my day job. I'll leave it at that 😉
