Insert fit points to 3D spline

Is there a way to insert a fit point in a 3D spline? All of the info I see here shows a menu with this option. If I create a spline in the plane I use to define the sketch, I see the menu. If I create a 3D spline not in the plane of the sketch, the menu disappears. Thanks.

the option isn't missing because the spline is 3d space.  it's because of the pattern.  you could delete that if you want indignant splines.  I'm not sure what the reason is though.  splines have never performed well with mirrors and patter functions.

it's usually better to pattern in the sold environment anyway, and avoid doing it in sketches, but it depends on what your doing I suppose.

Got it - thanks! Is there a way to create the pattern without the constraints?

Don't understand the question.

let's start with what your trying to end up with.  do you have anything to communicate your desired end result? (similar objects, hand sketches, pics, etc)?

After making the pattern, you can then click on the pattern constraint (the icon is a few small lines connected to dots) and delete just the constraint. The splines that you made with the pattern will remain but the constraint will be gone and you will then be able to add new fit points to them.
