Importing an existing component of my own

HI,

I want to insert in a current design another component of my own (IC).

So, data panel -> right clic, import into current design.

Ok, nice.

But I want to change for instance the visibility of a sketch in the IC.

And then I get the message "Visibility cannot be changed because it's read-only in the referenced document."

So, how can I change the read-only parameter into something else, in the referenced document ?

I was looking for in every corners of the menus, and didn't find how to process

Tx in advance for your help.

Hi @cali.season26,

This is a current limitation of the way linked components work in Fusion.  Changing a sketch visibility is a design change to the inserted component.  You need to open the linked design, change the sketch visibility, save that design, and update the top-level design.

You can also select that component, and do "Break Link" on it.  But, be careful with this.  This loses the associativity to the original design.  It's OK to do this if you don't need that associativity, but be aware of this implication.

Tx a lot, but this read-only constraint if really severe, particularly with the way Fusion 360 manages the versions !!!

Just horrible.

Each time that I want to check something in a imported component, i will get quickly a version 3677 of my imported component.

And to open the imported component, changing the visiblity, saving, and updating in the container .... all that is really HORRIBLE.

I hope that Fusion team will fix very quickly this kind of discomfort.
