Imported Component Read-Only

Hi,

I'm using different files inside a project and I have an assembly file where I put things together.

While a component is linked from another file within the same project, is it possible to change the read only setting so I can actually make changes to it?

If that is not possible, I would like to turn related sketches for that linked components so I can use them in my assembly file. Anyway to change the visibility of a linked file that is read only?

Thank you

Mert

Thank you for sharing the link but... I guess it doesn't really give a solution.

I know I can have all components inside a single file and I wouldn't need to have a separate assembly file but, in case that I want to do it, seems that it is not possible.

The only way to edit a linked component (right now) is to break the link!

Or you just right click on the linked component on the browser and select "open".

Hi Mert,

even if you can't edit linked components directly, you can open them directly from the browser, enable sketch, save the part and activate and update the assembly file. After that you use geometry from linked file in your assembly. You can use it for creating a new sketch or you can Project goemtry from linked file.

Regards

 Roman
