Imported assemblies show joints. How to hide?

Hello.

I often build medium complexity assemblies. I build a part as its own file, and often import screws and such from McMaster into this file, then I rigid joint them or I'll use rigid "as built joint" between parts.

If I then start another file and build an assembly, and I drag this first file into the new assembly, when it shows up, the icons for all the joints are visible in the 3d view. I have to click each and press 'v' to turn off the visibility. Sometimes the assemblies have a lot of these, and sometimes I'll even take this assembly and drag it into yet another more complex drawing. When it imports, again it will have every joint for every child object visible, which can be over 100 joints sometimes. Creating a linear component array also causes this.

Thanks in advance for any direction.

Hi,

simply hide the joints in your source file

If you do not want to hide them in the original assembly, as @g-andresen suggests, before placing it in your new assembly, you can use the Selection Filter to find them all quickly and Hide them.

Thank you! I wasn't aware of the selection filter.

It seems like I have turned them off in the source file. Normally they are not visible, but they become visible when importing. I do try to keep the source file linked in most cases for editing. The selection filter is an easy enough work around.

Thanks again!
