Import SVG's to dimensions rather than some scale factor?

So I'm importing a graphic which is a company logo and I would like to be able to set its initial size via a dimension rather than a scale factor so that I know its width and can more easily align it centrally? Is there no way to do this? The svg insert tool seems too basic?

Scalefactor = desired length / existing length

Scaling is done with dimensions.

Attach your file here if you can’t figure it out and indicate the desired size. 
Once someone shows you how - you will know for all future endeavors.
