I created this part as a solid, using sketches and a loft from the "Solid" section. When I try to convert it to 18 gauge aluminum, I get ther error shown below. I noticed that when I try to draw a sketch on one of the flat surfaces, it doesn't rcognize the flat surface. Here's the link to the file:  https://a360.co/4c4qeuw

it's tricky to control thickness on solid lofts.  usually if yo plan to make convert to a sheet metal part, it is better to create a surface, and then thicken the surface so yo have consistent thickness throughout the part.

but, why such a convoluted work flow?  this part can be done with 2 sketches, 1 flange feature (yeah, just make it a sheet metal mart from the git go) and an extrude to shape the profile.

I don't think your body will be convertible to Sheetmetal. I did try via surface thickening...Short of recreating it as a sheet metal body you could go via Meshmixer.meshhhh.jpg

The output is an .svg so getting the correct scale can be a chore.

In my example attached the scali is out by approx 152%

EDIT: I have reattached a file with the .svg scaled approx to the correct dimensions approx

The work flow is because the body tapers from left to right both vertically and horizontally. I tried going the flange routew, but it doesn't do the taper. I tried it as a surface, and then thickening, but I got the same error, it would't pick a flat surface to use.

I got Lofted Flange to create a valid Sheetmetal body.
