Hi guys,
I'm trying to recreate this piece, but no luck yet. I tried parametric, but failed.. and sculpt seem to be the right option, but failed too. Any ideas?
Cheers!
What experience do you have with 3D modeling in general and with Fusion 360 in specific ?
This is your first post, so it is hard to asses.
The reason I am asking is that this piece is not a trivial exercise!
How dimensionally accurate does this need to be ?
Hey TrippyLighting,
I would say I'm a beginner. I've designed a couple things to 3D print, but nothing to fancy. (http://www.thingiverse.com/diogorsergio/designs)
Started in 123D Design and now moved to Fusion 360.
It needs to be somewhat accurate, the actual piece doesn't fit snugly it wobbles around 1.5mm and its secured by those 4 screws.
But the shape can be simplified, the cutout its not necessary.
I even tried Autodesk Remake for photogammetry with this album http://imgur.com/a/cWbf0 but fails.
I would still try to scan it. I believe you'll need a lot more imaged for remake to process it but admit I have no practical experience with it.
Otherwise you'll have to use calipers. It will be a challenge with such free from models.
Modeling this will be the easier part 😉
Hi @diogorsergio,
Have you tried to this app http://www.123dapp.com/catch
I was thinking, first thing you gonna need, is a 3D model of the helmet with the actual piece in place. Then it will be much easier to use Free Form to recreate that piece.
Just a thought!
Ben.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Just did a capture in 123D Catch, lets see how it goes. Usually because the visor its clear it creates all sorts of problems.
If all else fails I might try to get the piece 3d scanned.
Lets see!
Great, I hope it's gonna work. I saw a demo it looks really cool.
