How tp project entities at an angle or along an axis?

Suppose I made some arbitrary shape then create a sketch above it on a plane that is 45 degrees tilted.

How would I project that shape straight up along the construction lines so that the entity on the angled sketch looked like it would if I extruded the shape through the angled plane the split it, then created a sketch on the new face:

I suppose I could extrude, project, break, then remove the bodies I don't want, but that seems like an ugly way to do it.

Another way to do it would be use a Surface Body Intersect.  Model is attached.

Extrude/To Object or Replace face should work to create a body.  If you just want the sketch, then just project the geometry to a sketch on the angled plane.

That works, but seems like it's more or less the same thing, any advantage to doing it with a surface? I guess it's not a solid I need to remove, so probably better.

This doesn't work for me. If I project the geometry to the sketch on the the angled plane I get the geometry from the 45* perspective, not straight down. Am I missing something?

Just one of many methods.  I like it because I can easily turn off the Surface Body in the Browser or simply right click on it and choose REMOVE, not Delete.

Yes, projected geometry is projected normal to the source plane, not the destination plane.  Copy/Paste can create the exact geometry on another plane.

Hi! This can be done by using the Project to Surface command in the Sketch. Make sure the 45 deg plane is big enough to encompass the curve (there is a bug here; it should not matter). Select the plane as the projected face -> select the curve -> set "Project Type" to "Along Vector" -> select the project direction.

Many thanks!
