I have a bowl like so

autodeskN884Q_0-1665619428506.png

No I want to create a path with the fit point spline tool, pipe the path and then wrap the pipe around the bowl.

Something like this

An export of my work is attached. Thank you

Checking the file - question.

The spline is very free hand and 4.25 times the circumference at the equator.

All of the spline or just x number of laps? 1 and 3 pictured

Hi @autodeskN884Q

I would suggest looking into this tutorial, it will help you greatly in understanding how wrapping works and what is the best way to wrap a sketch.

Hope it helps.

Hey. Thanks for your reply.

I didn't know how to measure the circumference properly so I just did a random spline to explain my situation. I want to do only one lap (picture 1). But I'm curios to understand both methods if you dont mind

Same method, just delete the circular pattern. for a single loop.

Emboss is limited to cones and cylinders, this dish is not one of either.

The tutorial shows not only the possibility of Emboss feature, but also "Project to surface".
That feature can be applied in this situation.

Please see attached file. This would be my take on the situation @davebYYPCU.

Neither is the "correct way". There are multiple ways of overcoming the wrap feature. 🙂

May you enlighten us then what the "correct way" is?

Mhm yeah thats a nice approach. That's not exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to actually wrap my path around the bowl. But I guess you answered the question already in another reply: it's not possible.

> Emboss is limited to cones and cylinders

So unless you say there is a way to actually do this I'll accept this as answer. Thanks for your time

If you could be patient enough, then you could read the full reply. There are many ways of getting the wanted effect.
Thanks.

As it comes to Fusion 360 I know all of the ways to achieve the desired effect 😉

I would like for you to demonstrate "the correct" way and then explain why it is more correct than others.

If you have the patience to do so ...

My point was that there is NO CORRECT WAY of achieving the results. Everyone uses the features that they are used to in order to get the effect.
I will stop replying to your comments here, we are flooding the post with unnecessary replies. If you are interested, we can continue the discussion outside this post.
Cheers.

I am not interested in continuing this discussion elsewhere. Flooding the thread with better, or "correct" ways to achieve this, is quite the point of this conversation 😉

Ah, I went for the quick and easy way, because your bowl / spline was as simple as it is, and punted on one loop.

Wrapping text (“Fusion 360”) to a donut shape, was done in other YouTube videos, (surprised none were referred to) incorporating lots of trickery and Sheetmetal Fold / Refold known as Wrapping. Fusion 360 - Curved Text - YouTube

For your question, was way too complicated to explain here for such a simple curve.

Just checked your file, thank you,

So you used offset plane 2 more sketches, split the final ring, for some reason, leaving 3 bodies in the file, - I cannot see (more correct?) efficiency here.

See link in previous message for more correct?.
