How To Sketch Points or Circles On The Face Of A Cylinder

Hi,

I have a 2D drawing of a number of holes that will be drilled on the surface of a cylinder. The drawing width is the circumference of the cylinder, so if I wrapped the drawing around the cylinder, the hole positions would be placed.

I have tried creating a sketch of the hole pattern and using Project To Surface, but that distorts where the holes should be.

What is the best method for placing points or circles (to be used in CAM for drilling) on the surface of a cylinder? Some of the CAM operations support Wrap Toolpath, which would be perfect, but drilling does not.

Thanks,

Ken

This thread and several others (use the search function) show how to create a cylinder and add a sketch (or text) to the unrolled cylinder.

Believe me, I did search - for hours! None of my searches led me to the Sheet Metal workspace until your response. The link you provided got me on the right track and a day of experimenting has resulted in a solution to the problem. It's not the kind of easy solution that Fusion could provide by simply offering a 'wrap sketch' in the Model workspace similar to the 'wrap toolpath' in the CAM workspace.

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!
