How to put user parameters in a detailed drawing?

I have a wood project I am working on that I plan to use 5/8" stock for but I might end up using 1/2" or 3/4" so I defined a user parameter called Stock and set it to 5/8" for the moment. If I change it later the magic of parametric CAD updates my whole model.

But how do I put that in the detailed drawing. I'd like to create a text box with the following contents:

Stock: [stock variable]

so that it just updates with the parameter later.

Hi @johnhoge, I made this video a few years back so UI may be different in some ways. You also probably don't need to watch the entire video.

I have played around with it, and have tried typing out the parameter with no avail. From what it seems, you may just have to have it as "Stock: [stock variable]" until a stock size is decided on, unless someone else knows of a trick. This would be a good suggestion to bring to light for a future update.

Hi @johnhoge

As it stands today, we do not have a feature that will pull Parameter information through to the drawings. But we can show model properties, like Mass, Material, Description etc. in the Title Block Attribute or in a Parts List.

You could potentially use the Description property or set up a Material for each thickness.

I know that this is a bit more work than simply pulling through a parameter.

What I can do, is take this feature request and add it to our feature request database, where I track customer requests for drawing features. Every customer request that we get, from meetings, emails, forum posts etc. gets collected and categorised in our feature request database. This information is used to prioritise the features that we build in the future. I've added your request to our database
