How to proceed

Good afternoon all,

Now I am obviously new to this, so my question a newby question. I want to cut foam, doesn't matter what kind of foam, but my question is where to start. I want to make an inlay for a case. So what do I do, where do I start. Do I make all the items first or do I make the standard foam material plate first and then cut parts out. Thing is I need to put in different objects and als move them around. So its never the same. Can this be done?

Thank you kindly for any answer.

I would start with a model of the case.  Then you could model other bodies (representing the foam lining) to fit into various areas of the case.  You do this by using a process known as "Top-Down" modeling.  A quick definition is that you will be using edges and planes of the case to create the sketches needed to create the foam panels.  Most of the time this is done with the Project command in the sketching environment.  As @TrippyLighting suggested, you will enjoy Fusion 360 much more if your learn the basics first, then attack a project.  Frustration with the software only leads to disappointment and probably your abandoning the job.  Take a look at this blog article, it shows a little top-down design while it is talking about two methods of including components in an assembly.

Thank you for your respond, I indeed did follow the tutorials so that wasn't the problem. Now I have a lead from where to start. Thank you again.
