How to press/pull imported DXF file

I've imported a DXF file into an existing design and am trying to press/pull to extrude the DXF into the part.  However I'm unable to select any of the DXF geometry.  Screencast and part link below - any help/advise?  Thanks!

Hi @NYC_CNC,

So I was messing around with it and I was able to get it to press/pull by not capturing the design history (which can be turned on and off by right clicking the name of your design in the browser tree and selecting the appropriate option). Now as this does allow me to push/pull, it does not unfortunately allow me to actually select inside your lines. I can only select the actual lines themselves to push/pull which creates patches. I'm assuming since you named your project engraving that you are trying to cut away at the pipe to create the engraving, which I was not able to do explicitly from your .dxf file. 

To be honest, I'm not all that familiar with .dxf files so I'm curious as to whether or not it had to do with the export. Yesterday I used a .dxf file that I did not have to turn off the design history and could select within its bounds so like I said I really am curious as to whether or not it was how it was exported. I'll keep tinkering with it and see what I can try and do.
