How to pattern a component where the pattern is a feature of another part?

When I was using Inventor, if I had a square sheet of metal and it had 16 holes, I can't remember if the holes themselves have to be in a pattern or not, but I could place a bolt in one hole and then use the pattern tool to select that bolt and then the holes as the pattern. Inventor would copy and place a bolt in every hole for me.

Is this possible in Fusion? Everything I search steers me to patterning features. That's not what I'm looking to do. I don't wan tot manually copy and place each component. The features I am looking to pattern and not evenly spaced so I can't just use the rectangular pattern.

You have a set of bolt holes, if you use a pattern (or mirror) for the holes, then you place one bolt / washer / nut set, and pattern them to the same pattern parameters for the holes,

You can't pattern the hole and the components in the same pattern,

feature / bodies / components have to be grouped but can't be a mixed group.

Might help....

So what the quickest way to copy a component, such as bolt, 100 times and place all those bolts into 100 patterned holes of another component? If I have to do that one at a time, that's horrible.

Create the plate (Component) with one hole.

Pattern the hole feature.

Insert bolt component, jointed to the hole.

Pattern the Bolt Component, with same pattern details as the holes.

Rigid Group All.

Might help....

If you are just talking about patterning bolts or any type of fastener, then the Insert Fastener routine is what you want to use.

Yes, and NO!

If you try this with 100 fasteners you'll see what I mean.

I believe what the OP describes is one of the first features I suggested for Fusion some 9 years back!!!

If you already have a pattern to create holes, it would only be reasonable to be able to reuse the same patterns to place the screws/nuts/bolts. Inheriting a pattern that can be found in some form or another in all main stream CAD software Fusion aims to compete with.

The pattern tools are sorely lacking by now!

I take it back. The holes have to be a pattern. Inventor has something called pattern feature select. It didn't work the way I thought.

What i found in Fusion, which is pretty good, is the "Duplicate With Joints". It copies the components and it's associated joints. So all you have to do is select the component and then select the holes. It was quick.
