How to overlay an engrave pattern on a scanned 3D model that has curves?

Hello,

I have scanned a 3D part that is slightly curved and now that it is in my software, I am not sure how to overlay an engraving pattern onto the model. How is the best way to go about this?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you tell us a bit more about your model?  You say that it was scanned.  That, to me, sounds like it is a mesh format (STL, OBJ, etc).  Is that the case?  If so, then Fusion is not going to be able to engrave on your model.  Fusion, today, can only create/modify geometry that is a solid, surface, or TSpline body type.  It cannot modify mesh bodies.  We are working on mesh editing in Fusion, but it's not yet available, and won't support this kind of detailed modeling at that time.

However, if you do have a surface or solid body in your design, there are approaches that can be used to do your emboss.  But, first, let's find out if that's even applicable for you.

Jeff
