Hey community,

i want to design a little housing with atachable modules. Therefore I have created a sample housing with some kind of rail where the other body (module) should slide into.

My big question is how to do design either to draw that these two bodies?

For your application you should not work with bodies but with components:

http://fusion360.autodesk.com/learning/learning.html?guid=GUID-E37B0456-A867-429F-BF69-6A4626DD31E7

Once you've designed your different modules you can assemble these using the joints in the "assemble" menu.

The first stepin most new designs (90+%) should be to greate a component and activate it. Newly created components are activated automatically.

If you want to add something to an existing component, activate it before doing so.

Hi,

thank you.

Either or, I am looking for a solution of how to made such two components which can slide or fit in togehter.

I have to say, this what you see in the screenshot is the "positive" and I need to create the "negative".

I tried with Project to Surface but didn't work out well.

I hope I made it a bit more understandable of what I am looking for.

Greetings

Stefan

I have a similar problem. I am trying to design a conical piece which fits over the existing pintle and rotates

Model is attached.  If you need help understanding it, please ask for a Screencast.  By the way, why did you mode your body off of the origin?  I turned it into a Component so it was easier to handle. The base component is grounded the other is not joined at all to the assembly.

Thanks John, I am unable to open your attachment. The pintle was centered on the base which is where it must reside for spacing rather than the origin. I am new to Fusion so still learning the fundamentals...Scott

I do not understand why you cannot open my attachment.  I just downloaded it from my post and it opened easily.  You are downloading it to your hard drive, then go to File, Open and select it from where you saved it, correct?

OK sorry John, I see it now. I had to relaunch Fusion to get the latest upgrade before I could open your file. Yes that is what I am trying to do. How do I get there?

I went a bit further to make sure you could add a Joint between the two components in my Screencast.  The model I used in the Screencast is attached.  I left the Sectional Analysis on in my model, you can turn it off in the Browser.
