How to make this shape in to extruded body...

I am hoping someone can help with this. I want to create a cut out in to a extruded body. I have done using a circle and extrude in to the body but the cutout becomes a circular. I have attached a sketch, may be it will make a better sense there. test Drawing_1 is I have done, but I want it to look like Test Drawing_2. I have put red lines where I want the shape to look like. I just dont know how to go on about doing it. Also, how do I mirror this cutout rather then doing it on each side individually? Much appreciated.

The curved cutout, needs the sketched circles to have the same centre point,

Concentric, or Offset curves would do the same thing.

( be a while before I can check the file)

If that works, use a Mid plane, and
Create > Mirror - Features - select the cut icon from the timeline, and the midplane.

Hi,

Mid plane worked for the mirror feature.

I look forward to your answer on the curved cutout.

Ok, based on your 3 red lines, I figure your cut needs to be just 90 degree curves, and then straightens out

Your sketch (yellow icon) was corrupted (I suspect offset circles), and I could not fix it, so I copied stuff for a new one, and added the rectangles to do what I think you wanted.  Deleted the old sketch, and fixed the extrude.

Your Origin being in the right place, allows the Origin plane to be used for the Mirror, good job there.

I wondered if you still need the chamfer on the boss, I clicked on the face, and deleted it both sides, if not right, delete my last timeline icon.

Thanks, thats what I was looking to do. Now if I try your approach, I cant get the lines to behave like yours. Do you have a video of this sketch you did so that I can see how it was done? Much appreciated for your help.

No video.  I copied stuff from the corrupted sketch.

Step by step - use Eyeballs when required.

New Sketch, on Plane 1.  Project the purple line from the body shelf.  Hide the body.

Draw a point on the purple line, Dimension to the sketch origin, 6.12 horizontally.  Should turn black.

Draw a circle in about the right place.  Dimension the centre point from the Sketch origin,

Make the circle curve coincident to the first black point.  Circle should turn black.

Draw a second circle on the same centre point.  Dimension the two circles 3.54 apart.  Will turn black.

Draw a 2 point rectangle.  For the bottom one, about the right place, make the right side line coincident to the circle centre point. make coincident, the top corner point and bottom corner point to each circle.  Drag the blue line (left) out past the body.

Repeat for the top rectangle, making the lower line horizontal to circle centre point, and joined to the circles.

Drag the top blue line above the body.

Change those black lines of the rectangles to Construction type.

Modify > Trim the circles' outlines not needed.

All being correct will look similar to this one.

What I did with your file, there are easier ways to get the job done.  File attached.
