how to get moves to work with parameter's

I have a drawing that has a "platelength"(mine own custom parameter (FX)) in it, but if I change the parameter, the move option that I used in the design, takes no notice of the change!(even when I use the "platelength" instead off a number)  also I used the hole command and this also seems not to use the moved location reference point.(it remains in the original place before changing the length)

is there away to get it to do so

(sorry not very good at explaining and also cant work out how I can add the file so you can see what i'm talking about)

Use Joints, not Move (Move is almost always used incorrectly by beginners).

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Hi,

Move always starts from the current position and cannot be edited afterwards.

If you want a different move, you must first delete the existing action and then define a new one.
But do without "Move" and follow the advice of @TheCADWhisperer .

I can get the move to work using more steps with the aline and join but I still have the issue with the hole option not taking any notice of its reference point on a parameter change!!

ok the hole works if u use the multiple rather than the single (even though its only 1)  thet seem a bit silly to me!!

So think this is now resolved

No.

Sketch1 is not fully defined.

Sketch2 is not fully defined?

If I add the missing dimension - it doesn't make logical sense?

Did you mean for this to be 10mm?

See Attached file.

as I have got this to work! I don't see why I need to fully define a sketch that I have yet to decide that I want fully designed, as a lot of this is trial and error

my issue was with using the move and the single hole option that did not appear to work as expected!

if you take at look at the last file I updated and change the parameter section you will see it is now work as I hoped without fully defining my sketches which I prefer as it allows for easy changes.

But thank you for taking a look and it helped me solve the issues by the comments I first got.

In my experience - this is not true and instead always leads to unintended errors.

I guess that depends on how rigid you want your designs to be (for me I find it sometime difficult to change the design if every thing is clamp up tight) not so bad if you have got the end result you want as which point I usually clamp it all up

(seemed ok either way)

thanks
