Hi. I'm trying to create 6 x 1/4 drill holes...(tripod size) within a rectangular block..but other than manually drawing every hole I'm not sure how to do this. Here is a screen shot of my current sketch...I figure there must be some easier way to do this where it can automatically distribute the 6 holes within the rectangular space. Thanks for any clues!
Thanks Guenther..I just discovered this..but can't seem to get it to work. I'm not sure if I cut one hole first..and then use it..or do it on the sketch..also no matter what I put in the rectangular pattern box nothing seems to happen! Here is a picture of what I have...I've got my first hole..but how do I get the other 5 to the right?
actually I'm getting somewhere..I had to choose Direction..and then things started happening...I'm just not sure how to get my 6 holes to proportionally space to the extent of the rectangle..will keep playing!
Hi,
1. you don´t select directions ( edges or lines)
2. I prefer pattern of solid/faces
Features & compute option: Identical/Optimized

you can use formulas in the pattern dialog to calculate spacing. who you set it up will depend on what distances are important. Lots of ways to set this up. attached is one. play with the parameters in the edit parameters dialog, and look at the formula in the pattern feature for "extent".
