How to create and extrude a 3d profile?

Using 3d sketch I can include a 3d geometry from a helix's edge. And now I want to create a surface (or extrude for a body) from the closed edges including some 3d paths.

But it's not a profile and not selectable when I'm extruding.

And, it can be used as a path when sweeping, but I can't sweep a rectangle alone the two edges to create a object..

How can I create this body..

You cannot only use a 3D sketch for extrusions, if it is perfectly flat. So using a helical curve will not work for extruding.

Maybe you can explain what geometry you are trying to create and we can suggest an alternative workflow.

Is this what you are after?

See Attached.

I'm not sure how to describe this shape... But I'm expecting the helix and the arc to form a "loft surface" or something similar..

Yes.. this surface, but I cannot make it a body with thickness..

Swoop Patch Loft.JPGYou want Sweep and Extrude's nuanced skin-deep cousin, Patch Loft.    Unlike the Loft found in the Modelling workspace, Lofting in the Patch workspace allows for the selection of open Sketch profiles to build surfaces.   These surfaces can then either be Stitched together to form a solid, or Thickened, as is demonstrated in the accompanying screencast.

Screencast will be displayed here after you click Post.

Curse the screencast bug.
