How to create a part with different variations?

Hello,

I have a base part as shown:

I need to use this part multiple times in my assembly but each time it is used it will need slight modifications such as removing holes for inserts or adding tabs to the model.

I want to keep one parent model so if I need to change the length all variations will change at once.

Is there any way to create one part that can be dropped in all the spots needed and then I can select the variant?

Or must I make multiple separate parts for each variant?

I am having difficulty making a parent model then trying to remove holes in the variant model.

Since the bodies are in different components they will not cut away from each other.

Any advice is appreciated.

Configurations would be the ticket if you have a Fusion 360 Subscription.  Attach your model.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.
