How to create a line across 2 axes

I recently downloaded Fusion 360 as a student, and began to use it for a science fair project. My problem is I have most of the model done, but now I need to create a line that is "3D" (I need it to span across x, y and z axes). My plan for this was to use the revolve feature after using the web feature on the line. If there is another way to do this, it is just as welcome. For reference, the line needs to span less than halfway between the outer and inner cylinders at a roughly 160 degree angle. Thanks in advance!

Hi, that's awesome to hear you're doing a science fair project, and have already accomplished most of your model in Fusion 360!

I can't quite visualize the additional feature you're describing that now needs to be made.  Maybe if you could make a rough sketch on the image you took, to help illustrate what exactly you're trying to do.  Then it will be possible to determine the best way forward.

Thanks and good luck with what you're doing there.  Looks interesting.

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you are trying to do, but I think I have an idea.

 

If all you want to create is a single line, then you don't really need a true 3D sketch (since one line always lies in a plane), you just need the right plane.  You can do true 3D sketching in Fusion if you need to, but if I understand your request, I don't think you will need 3D geometry.

Basically, you just need a plane at an angle to the center of your cylinders.  Is that correct?  Something like:

Please let me know if I am off base here, and you are trying to do something different.

No, what I need to accomplish is a sort of camfer on the outer cylinder, facing inward. Also, I need it to be solid so I can analyze it using Flow Design. I will add sketches of this as soon as I can scan and upload them.

Better stated, perhaps, like this: how do I connect the line to the outer cylinder's boundaries and draw the line in another plane?

Yes, but with the revovled part rotated out from the rest of the model. Sorry for the lack of pictures, the scanner has been down today.

Thanks, that helps.  I hope that this is closer to what you are trying to achieve:

The basics of the sketch are the same as my earlier screencast:  Create an Axis Through Cylinder, then a Workplane At Angle, then sketch on that plane.  Projecting geometry from the cylinder into the sketch will give some references to work with.  Then, create whatever geometry you need for your lip, and use Revolve to create the solid shape.
