How to center two bodies/components relative to a third?

Hi community,

how could I align the two backing pegs so that they keep their relative distance to each other, while being centered relative do the Dualshock Mount?

I have tried to create midplanes between both the backing pegs and the sides of the mount, in the hope that I could simply align the midplanes and this would automatically properly align the components. But no dice.

Thanks!

Hi,

On the screenshot, I have the impression that the pegs are twisted against each other.
I would position them with joints.
We would have to look at the file to be able to evaluate this.

You can find the design in the attachment.

Joint or Pattern.

How does this work?

Fix yellow Icons with Undo when they happen.

Blue sketch articles should keep you guessing as to how to align, for a while yet.

Might help....

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me.

I am asking how you intend to install the brackets into the slotted plate.  Physically impossible, unless printed in place.

They have already been printed and they fit nicely.

It's printed in PLA and has some flex. I guess I was simply lucky that it worked out this time.
Thanks for pointing out that I can do a section analysis. I will try to add this to my workflow in the future.

I still need some help with the alignment issue.
If anyone could provide some guidance, that would be awesome. 🙂

@davebYYPCU would you mind rephrasing/elaborating on what you mean (by yellow icons/ blue sketch articles)?

Or could you point me to the relevant section in the doc?
Thanks!

Not being critical, just helpful? Guidelines.

Blue, orange and white articles can be click dragged on purpose or by accident, creating inaccuracy.

Black, purple and green are absolutely stable and have to be edited to move, accidental moves are not possible.

Your file has 2 yellow icons - as you build the file, when they are presented, a warning dialogue is displayed, pressing Undo removes the warning and yellow icon, and problem.

To fix them later you need to Edit the feature and repair the problem.

in this file, you have three individual components, each should be built on its / an Origin as you see fit.

At the time you Insert into a file, you are given a free move, you should place the incoming component where it is needed.

Insert the plate, no need to move it, accept the defaulting position, and ground it.

Insert a hook bracket, at the time you would set it into a slot position.  Rectangular pattern for the second hook bracket.

Create the holder, in place.

Rigid Group the four components.

In your case you imported sketches, placed in an odd position from the origin, all blue, built the holder, and imported the other components, moved around a lot and no Joints used for positioning.

using the Origin planes, creates stability, when used correctly, you don’t need any mid planes.

What do you mean by "articles"? I never heard this term in the context of Fusion.

Sketch Articles,

The geometry in the sketch.

(purple selection icon in the Project Tool dialogue box is labelled as such, Articles (or Bodies))
