how is design made

I need to draw my design in 2D, plans, elevation, section and have the software present a 3D image as well as produce a file suitable for 3D printing.

The project shape is determined by mathematics requiring entering dimensions at numerous critical points, smoothing curves to prevent turbulence, etc. I would not be able to use sculpture or solid programs as they do not have the precisions or convenience of working in an orthographic manner.

I envision the need to have the project divided into three portions, top, centre and bottom modules which would be glued together as an assembly.  The centre module is composed of tubes, each continuously increasing in volume, each surrounded by another tube.  The top and bottom module would provide a means to transfer the volumes from an inner tube to the next tube in an increasing volume as the end module's volute space joins one tube to the next.

As well, there is a need to smooth the surfacers of the tubes and transition pieces which requires access to the interior, one reason for there being three modules.  Further as the object is 36" high with a maximum diameter of 22" it is likely that even the centre module may need to be made in more than one print to fit into 3D printers' available sizes.

Is Fusion 360 able to draw such an object, able to produce files for 3D printing?

Who owns my design if I use Fusion 360 in say a Cloud format.  I require patent and copyright protection.

Is Fusion the tool with the capacity to do what you want? Maybe- in time -after considerable investment in creating designs contrived to acquire skills and intimacy with tools. It's a bit like asking if you can vanquish the school bully with Kung Fu- well, ya, in theory, one day, with determination... after a quantity of Wax On, Wax Off.

This isn't Facebook.   If you really have this concern, assurances from a Randomguyoninternet couldn't possibly be a basis for making such a critical decision- you'd have to read the usage agreement yourself, wouldn't you?

Hey chizenQQKWS, welcome!

In short, you own all your data, Autodesk does not. It's not even possible for us to access your data without your permission. See point 5 on our terms of use page: https://www.autodesk.com/company/terms-of-use/en/general-terms#own
