How do you move and resize extruded objects?

I am having trouble editing the simple rectangles in my project pictured. I am trying to move and resize the extruded rectangles to allign better. I also want to be able to line them up an equal distance from the edge. Is there an easy way to do this? Do I need to create new objects instead?

Every time I try to move it it just selects the entire object and moves it as a whole piece. I can't figure out how to move just the specific rectangle.

Sorry for such a basic question, I'm new to Fusion360.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

No need to apologize, we were all there once too! Without seeing the model I can only speculate as to the best method, but one thing you can try doing is editing the sketch (right click the sketch from either your browser tree on the left or from the timeline) you created the rectangles for the extrusion for. In here, you can use the dimension tool in the sketch menu to dimension it a certain distance away from things such as the edge. By doing this you will move it (and by editing the sketch you go back in your timeline) so when you stop editing the sketch it should recompute your timeline from that point on and recalculate the extrusion based on its new position. This will give you a moved extruded rectangle in the location you desire. If you need more help feel free to share the project with me at james.youmatz@autodesk.com. (Right-click the model from the Data Panel on the left and select "Share Public Link" and make sure Download is checked off). Just make sure to include a few more screenshots of what you are trying to do!

Thanks,

I have the same issue. What was is the resolve to resize of extruded objects in Fusion 360 2021? I suspect it has changed as the functionality has changed since the initial 2016 post.

Hi,

You can do without resize (scale) if you use dimensioned sketches and features.

@Anonymous

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

(It probably would have been best to start a new discussion thread and link back to this one for reference.)

Yes. You are correct. Sometimes I work within Fusion360 to exhaustion and...I really can't account for what I was doing differently. Nonetheless, it's working for me now. Thanks for your time and efforts helping me to resolve.
