How do you dimension an imported DXF with another DXF?

Hello all!

I can't figure out how to dimension the side of one DXF to the side of another DXF.

Basically when putting in a dimension between the two lines on the sides it moves the line, but the rest of the DXF doesn't go with it which throws the drawing all out of whack.

Is it possible to import a DXF and then lock all the lines of that DXF with each other where they all move as one?

I'm trying to model an enclosure made with aluminum extrusion so I can adjust a few parameters like length and width and everything just moves according to the dimensions.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks!

Nope 😉

Can you share a screenshot, or the model, or make a screencast ?

Ha, I was afraid it didn't. My technically terminology may be a bit lacking in this area.

I will share the model I'm working with.

As some added info I have a basic frame laid out, but realized after already had a lot of it in place that you can't dimension an object to another object.

So I am trying to recreate this model by dimensioning sketches and then extruding them.

In the included file for Fusion 360 you can see in the sketch there are two drawings basically that are from an imported DXF. I'm trying to get them spaced apart based on a dimension that is entered.

Yeah, you can. That's what the assembly joints are for 😉

Ah okay! I have been modeling awhile, but my skills are still somewhat lacking. I have no clue what that is or how to use it, but I will look into it or watch a few tutorial videos over Assembly Joints.

Thanks!

It would be much easier than messing with the sketch part for this particular model I believe.
