How do I do a perpendicular dimension on steel tube?

Hello!

I have some steel frames to dim up. I want show the location of the diagonal steel (blue) so the dim in perpendicular to the adjacent member. So you can run your tape measure down the outside edge and scribe across with the square. I can only find the aligned method. On acad i would right click and choose perpendicular to snap to the extension of the diag bar which I have shown in red. on the snip.

@ParametricScenicXYZ

Is this the dimension that you are after?

Instead of dimensioning to a projected intersection (imaginary point) I would probably dimension to physical points instead.

Another consideration is that we cannot make perfect parts.

I would probably have some gaps on one end of frame members for welding.

Hello,

Yes, that is the dim i'm after, how did you achieve it?

I can see if the fabricators will accept the alternative but its not what they are used too.

thank you for looking.

@ParametricScenicXYZ

Create a sketch line and dimension to the sketch line.
