there is no automatic way to do that.  Triangle to quad is a PhD thesis topic...  There is this thread by @TrippyLighting for working with organic triangle meshes, but I don't think that will work for your model:  how-to-work-with-irregular-and-organic-stl-files

Hello @Anonymous   - this job looks easy to handle.

please give it in and see what happens to it. why do you need t-spline? isn't brep good too? please always give pictures directly with the camera symbol in a good size, so that you do not have to load them all the time -

thank you.           greetings mangoeingaben.PNG

@jeff_strater is correct hat this isn't suitable to be converted directly into a T-Spline with the methods shown in my tutorial.

This mesh is a low-poly mesh and has too little geometry to represent curved surfaces, and while it might appear smooth, that is just the result of "shading tricks" that are as old as computer graphics e.g. Gouraud and Phong shading.

However, it you are interested how this could be modified then this will require some manual work in a Sub-D modeling software such as Blender. Then you'll have. quad model that can actually be converted into T-Spline.

Unless, of course you just want to re-model this completely with Fusion 360 tools and just use the mesh as a visual guideline. That is also quite possible!

That depends. Some folks are happy with the very faceted look of such converted geometry, and sometimes the low poly look is actually desired. I guess, based on the OPs post that in this case it isn't.

Don't take a deeper look at this 😉

1. To my knowledge Recap Photo does not exist anymore and is now part of Netfabb. You can decide yourself if you like that price point!

2. The software used in my tutorial is InstantMeshes and is free and open source. But that does not matter because...

3. The mesh shown in the screenshot by the OP is not dense enough to represent the curved surfaces the object would anomaly consist of.

@Anonymous please look at all so the whole video contribution. it's worth it even without recap. *

my recap works very well.

@mango.freund ahh, looks like Recap is a differ software than Netfabb.  Can the trial be extended for free ?
