How do I connect sketches that are on different planes?

So i have been using fusion for a while now but still cant seem to connect ( snap ) sketches that are made on different planes. What I am trying to do is create a banjo neck which I have done but the way I had to do it was very very very very time consuming. I have an outline with my design and start to create arcs at different reference points on different planes so I can loft them together. I would like to use the guide rail function in loft to follow the curves when the neck changes but it won't because they are not connected to the original drawing. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, its probably  a simple solution. I just cant seem to figure it out.

The very short answer to your question is to turn on the "3D sketch" option in the sketch palette:

However, this subject of loft and rails is much more complex.  Take a look at a couple of videos I've posted for how to create profiles and rails for loft:

finally, since you are modeling a banjo neck, check out this other thread that deals with these issues, but for a guitar neck:  patch-environment-design-help-guitar

The 3d option was on and still did not seem to fix the issue. However I did
figure out that if I project the lines that I want to use as rails into a
different sketch on a different plain it works. This dramatically cuts down
on time and I can get the curvature to exact measurements to match up with
other parts. This videos you suggested had great info as well that I will
keep in mind.
