how can I join these using a path that isn't straight?

I have to pieces that I can extude the faces on, but I'm not sure how to join thenm using a non straight form. I've attached a copy of the pieces below with a really lousy arrow indicating what I want to do.

I would create path and profile for Sweep.

Loft might also work.

 

Can you attach your *.f3d file here?

Export Archive

then right click on the local filename and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here.

That was more difficult than it should have been. Why you can't click on an older design in the dashboard, then view it (you can) and then open it (you can't) is beyond me. 

 

But here it is.

 

I know this is something I can learn from.  Thanks!

First, the easiest way....

 

Start the Loft command and select the rectangular end faces.

Click on Profile1 and set it to Tangent.

Click on Profile2 and set it to Tangent.

....

 

Here is another technique using Sweep

 

Sketch your path.  (this is just an example - the path can be whatever you want it to be)

and then sweep a profile.

A third technique would be a complex 3D path.  If one of these first two techniques do not give you want you need - post back.

This is a case where documentation would go a long, long way. 🙂

 

Your solutions were perfect. And the second with the sweep gives me all the control I need.

I can't seem to get sweep to work. Getting the path aligned to the center of the surfaces. suggestions?

Attach your file here so that I can figure out why it does not work.

 

In the file I attached I used Project Geometry to project an edge of existing geometry to tie in the new Path geometry.
