How best to add these oil passages?

I've drawn a crankshaft and need to add oil passages between the main journals and the rod journals. For each oil passage exit point I've created a construction plane, then a sketch, then added a point at the location that the oil hole exits.

From there I'm not sure of the best way to make the passages. My first shot was to create a new 3-point plane using the two exit points and a random third one, then a sketch on that plane, then a line connecting the two points. Then I used the Pipe tool to create the passage and extended it using a 1.5 factor to get it to pass fully through the rod journal. Then translate that down a little so it fully punches through the main journal radius.

Before I do that all 8 more times, can anyone think of a better process?

Revolve - Cut with a Rectangle.

(or Pipe).

Pipe only requires a centerline.

That would work if both points were in the same plane and on the centerline of the crankshaft, but they're offset. That's why I was creating a new plane containing both points and then using pipeScreenshot 2025-12-06 145336.png (or also could rotate a rectangle).

Both techniques I demonstrated will work, but I did not have your geometry to demonstrate - so I made up quick trivial examples.

The easy way is Intersection of Extruded Surfaces to get the compound angle path.

Edit: I just discovered that the Project has been enhanced. Don't need to Extrude the Surfaces anymore.

Ok I see you had some attachments there that must have been describing what you were intending, but I can't download external files to this PC. Can you point me to a topic where I can see examples online? Thanks,

Hi Chris,

I think it is doable, but I am sorry I have hard time picturing what exactly you want to do. Please share your file here. The forum experts can help take a closer look.

Many thanks!
