Hollowing Out A Solid Body With Contoured Surface

I'm trying to hollow out a portion of the underside of a guitar body but am not having any success. These are the steps I did to try and accomplish this.

  1. Opened a new sketch on the XZ plane.
  2. Create/Project to Surface the sketch profile (Body Cutouts Sketch) of the carve area required.
  3. Modify/Split Face top surface of body using projected profile.
  4. Use Offset to create an offset body from the new faces created on the body top.
  5. Extrude offset faces past bottom face of the body.
  6. . Combine/Cut new bodies from extruding with original body.

The problem starts at step 4. The new faces created from step 3 will not highlight so I can pick them. The whole body highlights instead. I can highlight the new faces however, when not performing any task. I was pretty sure that this is how I'd done this before but it's been quite some time since I used Fusion so I can't say for sure. I've attached screenshots but can provide the file if necessary.

Thanks Kindly.

Offset is thickness of the body to kieep,
