Hole tool NPT thread missing modeled option

Hi all,

I have a part that needs two 1/2"NPT threads, and it will be printed on an SLA printer. The thread tool has a "modeled" option which works, but I do not see a "modeled" option for the hole tool when "thread" is selected. I'm not using the thread tool because NPT is _still_ not available there.

The browser "modeled threads" option is enabled.

Thanks for any help!

what do you mean about a standard plug? For example, I am trying to do a 1/2 npt in my part. I have the tool but can not get it to cut out of the aluminum. We are making manifolds and greatly appreciate if we could get this figured out.

Hi @markbECS9B

If you follow the thread, you might already get the idea...  But the proposal made here by some - which seems to work alright for my purposes - is to take a standard 1/2" NPT coupling from a components library & insert that into the model in the position where the 1/2"NPT thread needs to be cut. Then use the "Combine / cut"-function (see Modify) to create the thread.

Certainly, not optimal - I fully agree on that.  But it's workable for a 3D model. Hopefully, when producing, your CNC machine will still grab the tap from the toolset & cut the thread - right?
