Hole Callout after Center Marks
I can not see any issue with the process you describe as shown in the Animated GIF. One thing you must remember, the original hole, you used in the pattern MUST be created using the Hole command, it cannot be Extruded. If you are creating the pattern using the correct method, yes, we need to see your model or a video of your process.
