Highlighted bodies will not cut & paste to new component.

Everything on the screen is currently bodies that are part of a main component (151 bodies total that I want to group into 8 sub-components). I have highlighted one group in blue by using the mouse cursor to drag a selection square around them, which also causes them to highlight blue in the browser list (and also adds a dashed line under each body) and now I am trying to put them into the component.

But to accomplish this I cannot simply drag and drop them, rather I have to make a mental note of which ones are highlighted blue in the list, then deselect everything, and then reselect them from in the browser list and only then can I drag or copy/paste them into the sub-component.

Why cant I simply select them with the mouse and then drag them from the browser list while they are all highlighted blue? Why does it make me go back and do a few at a time? (of course they are all spread out across multiple screens worth of scrolling)

This seems like the stupidest and most time consuming way to do this task.

What am I missing?

Thank you very much!

Please attach your model and let the Forum users try and help you out.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

I can't post that file but here is one that is the same exact problem.

Just pretend that instead of four bodies in each group there are 50; and 8 groups instead of 2- and the bodies that I need to drag and drop / cut & paste into the empty components are spread out over many browser scrolls so you cant just easily remember which ones are part of the group.

Thank you!

window selecting selects edges and faces by default, not bodies.  left mouse click selects faces and edges by default also. not the actual full body. double left click selects the component, also not what you want.  that is why drag and drop of the bodies isn't working.  you haven't actually selected bodies.  turn on this selection priority and drag and drop of multiple bodies will work the way you are expecting-

alternately,  you could long left mouse click, go to the parent tab, and select the body from there.

Regarding the alternate way... I can select multiple by holding shift- but this still takes much longer than the other way.

However I think this might help me greatly if I am trying to select bodies that are all jumbled together with ones I don't want.

Thank you; I probably wouldn't have found that for a while.
