again i ask for help with getting the joints and movement to work in my vise.

i am attaching the file.

i am hoping it should be fairly obvious what i am trying to achieve.

when the hex turns the vise should open and close, hopefully.

if it is not possible, it is no big deal.

i plane to make the threaded rod long anyway and I will just cut the extra off

i just thought it would be nice to see it move.

thanks for help on my prevous post, i did get the sliding of the moving jaw section working. right up until i added the screw and other parts.

any suggestions on how to achieve this, greatly appreciated,

thanks, brian

you'll need a revolute joint on the screw.  Then create a motion link (also under the assemble menu) between the revolute joint and the slider joint.  The screw is 12 in per turn, so set the distance to 1/12 of an inch per 360 deg turn.

ok, thank you for the help. i am going to give that a try in the next day or so when i can get back to this project.

i have never done that type of motion link before.

but your description sounds like its relatively easy.

thanks, brian
