Help with cut, why can't I cut form?

Sorry for this naive question but was wondering why I could not use the combine tool in order to cut the heel from the block. Was wondering what I could do in order to solve this and be able to cut it?

Thanks

It looks like the body of the shoe is a mesh body.  You cannot cut a mesh body with Combine - Combine only works on solid bodies.  What are you trying to do with this mesh body?  If you want to just cut off part of it, there is a Mesh Planar Cut command in the mesh workspace.  But, you really need to understand the different body types and what you can do with each type before you go too much further.

Hello,

I wanted to cut the heel from the rectangular solid. I downloaded the heel and it came as a mesh file, but I would like to either convert it into a body or convert the block into a mesh file. That way I can "cut" the heel figure from the body I made. I'm not sure how to easily do this.

converting such a dense mesh directly into a solid body is likely going to fail as there is a limit of about 10k ploygons. A single solid with that many faces is going to create performance problems.

You can convert the blockminto a mesh, but in order to do so, you’ll have to export it as a .obj or .stl File. Then you still won’t be able to use it in Fusion 360 because Fusion 360 is not a dedicated mesh tool. It is a dedicated solid modeling tool. While it does have a mesh workspace, the goal, is to usually end up with a solid body.

If you want to subtract the shoe mesh from a block, my suggestions would be to use Autodesk Meshmixer.

If that is a good solution, however, depends on what you wantotmdo with the resulting geometry.

You might have better luck converting this very clean looking mesh into a quad mesh using InstantMeshes.

That quad mesh can then be imported into Fusion 360 converted into a T-Spline and finally a BRep (solid model). Then you can easily cut it from the block.
