Help us help you create better 2D drawings!

Hey all,

Here’s another opportunity for you to influence how we develop the 2D drawings experience!

We want to do some comparative analysis of our internal drawings against your real-world drawings – created from Fusion or (even more interesting) from your other CAD packages.

Feel free to reply to this thread with your drawings. If you want to keep your drawings confidential, email them to me directly at timera.hart@autodesk.com and we will keep them safe. Any and all examples of drawings you're making today to get your job done would be super helpful to us as we keep our eye on the prize of fullfilling our promise to rounding out the drawings environment.

We on the drawings team are still hard at work to bring you some great new features in the upcoming releases, with a bunch happening on June 22 (mentioned at the bottom of the June 8 what’s new post).

Timera

The ability to export a drawing as a .DXF     Not a sketch but a drawing with dimensions and other pertinent information.   That is the format that my Laser and plasma cutter firms want me to submit to them.

Hi!

Is it possible to insert multiple sheets in a drawing? Otherwise I suggest it is being implemented. Here is a link to how it is done in Solid Works

Best regards

Thanks @pa.daerga, we are very aware we need multi-sheet capabilities and it is on our roadmap for this year. You can see multi-sheet and other items coming soon on our roadmap blog as well.

For new feature requests please log them on the IdeaStation. If you have samples of manufacturing drawings please do contribute them to this thread or send them to me directly.

Best,
- timera

  1. Assembly drawing - more than one body per sheet (a must)
  2. Dimension annotations for Isometric view

Hi @Anonymous,

This is a fantastic sample, thank you so much. Would you mind sharing your model with me as well? It would be a great one for us to use to test internally for benchmark success of new features we release for drawings in the future.

Thanks for the kind words Tamara.

If you can give me your email address I will invite you to the project, where I suspect you can download it from.

We would really like to use Fusion for USPTO drawings.

hi

I have noticed that in drawings if i try to dimension a thread, the dimension doesn't show up the standard name for the thread. For example if i to dimension a M12 thread i have to take the diameter and manually edit the dimension to M12 x 1.75(as an example)

It would be great if fusion picks up the thread name automatically.

Also it would be great if Fusion dimensions the drawing automatically by picking up the dimensions defined in the model it is linked to.

Hey Timera-

I'm an Inventor guy rather than an F360 user, but I emailed you a drawing anyway along with some thoughts.

Thanks for asking for our input!

Hi Timera,

There are still a lot of people around that don't use CNC  but use DRO as a sort-of "manual CNC". Standard orthogonal dimensions in complex drawings can get very confusing, so I would like to see an entirely new (to me at least) type of dimension, which I call co-ordinate or Cartesian dimensioning.

The user first defines a datum or reference point, and then chooses the points to be dimensioned. Each dimension is in the form of a leader where the text is a character string of the form (x,y) and the arrow points to the referenced point. "x" is the horizontal distance of of the point from the datum point, and "y" is the vertical. Different coloured lines also improve drawing clarity.

The attached screenshots show the difference between standard orthogonal dimensioning, and the proposed Cartesian dimensioning in a complex drawing.

Hi,

I have noticed some points to be modified in drawing settings like,

1. There is no direct option to notify the modified tools like chamfer, fillet, Thread notation etc.

2. How to show the revised/modified dimensions or locations

3. How to show the quantity that are repeated for a single feature ( directly from the design it should be there for ease of drawing)

4. Scale representation should be in ISO and ASME drawings for clear detailing

5. Title box is to specify, provide the modifications by user for the benefit of using the space conveniently

I may some problems that I face in future.  And I will discuss probably in this message.

Thanks

Things I would like to see:

The ability to actually draw on the drawings.

Multiple hole/feature callouts

The ability to redline/markup a drawing.

When sheetmetal is introduced, we need the ability to do flat pattern drawings with bend callouts.

On the sheetmetal note... I would like to be able to do cross-brakes

@nvanlaar, Thanks so much for your feedback and your sample. Can I ask which software package you used to create the drawings you attached?

I used TurboCAD Prof Platinum.

More sheet sizes. (I need Arch D 36" x 24").

Custom title blocks.

Custom blocks, period.

Those are key, if I'm to use F360 for work. Currently, I use Rhinoceros3D for 2D/3D design...

@greevedogg, thanks for the input. Do you have any samples you can provide? That's what we're really looking for from this post.

Best,

Timera
