Help on creating twist lock lid

Hey all, I'm hoping that someone here can help me with creating a twist lock lid on a cylinder I've created. It's a simple project but the lid and how it twist and locks is alluding me. I know it would be easier to use threads but unfortunately, there is a weight that goes in the female component of the cylinder and doesn't give me any area to create threads so I'm hoping a simple flat lid with protrusions that fit into slots on the female component and then twist to secure. Note that the lid has to come off to remove the weight inside from time to time so I'm looking for something that's relatively easy. Also, as you could see in the female component on the top, you will see that I extruded a slot, but that's as far as I've gotten. There might be a better way to do it, but again my brain is fried at this point. Long story short is the only thing I'm wanting to do is be able to put a lid on this and secure it where the weight does not fall out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please see attached drawings and I'm up for any feedback you guys can provide.

How about a insert - twist locking mechanism.  On the supplied model I only added it to one side but I suspect it would be best to have it on both sides, really depends on how tight the male skirt fits into the female hole.  Model attached.

I can try but there isn't much room for a male cap to go down inside the female, hence not being able to add threads. But if I can make the walls on the cap (male) about 2mm, it might slide by the 500g weight....Maybe.  Let me try it. I like your idea for sure.

If you lack the room, you can reverse it.  Put the pin(s) in the cap and the engagement slot(s) in the main body.

Sorry but it isn't going to work as there is very little room on the inside of the female piece.  I think it's better if we could do some form of locking notch on top of the female cylinder if possible.  I can't make the cylinder any bigger as it has to go inside of a reel of filament.Take a look at the attached video and maybe this will explain what Im trying to do better. I know it looks like there is space but this is the old cylinder as the new one allows the weight to fit snug so it doesn't bounce around.

Since I assume you will be 3D Printing this, shape is probably not a problem.  Attached in my second possible.  I allowed a 0.25 mm clearance, on each side, between the Male skirt and the Female groove.  I have placed a Rigid Joint that must be suppressed in order to lift off the Male component.  You can of course remove it is desired.  Model is attached.
