help on alignment / joint

i cannot see a simple way ( eg like inventor constraints ) to

1. align the tube bottom with support bottom

2. bring the two faces together

3. align the two angled faces

then make a rigid joint ( easy)

thanks john

Thanks for your patience

Under modify, use the align command and then use an as built joint.

assembly files are a pita for folks trying to help out.  can you unlink and post a straight .f3d file instead?

they are still .f3z files.  so it is an assembly file that references other linked files.  that means we have to download multiple files to our machine, and then uploaded back up to our fusion account before we can open it.  then we have to make sure we delete the project.  if you attach a model with no linked components, (an .f3d file), we don't even have to save it to our harddrive.  we can just open it.

You have to break the links for that.

So for some reason you attached 2 seperate files.  still had to save them to my account.  I made the body in one of the model's a component, and then inserted the other model with the other body as a component, and unlinked it.  At this point the model is in the state I was suggestion you up load the model as.

So I'm guessing from this (just a guess) that you don't know how to use components yet.  You can put components together with joints.  here is a screen cast showing how to do it with your file. (I didn't know exactly where, but you should be able to figure things out with this.

FYI-the suggestion to use align to put the components together, and then use an as-built joint is crap.  You use as-built joints when components have been modeled in their correct position from the start.  the work flow using align and then an as-built joint will cause you nothing but grief down the road.  not a good modeling practice in fusion.

also attached is your file with the joint.  you;ll note in the screen cast that I temporally allowed a position capture so the components would remain where they were during the joint operation, but once I was done I delete the position capture.  it's a good idea to not collect those in your timeline.

need a little more help.  please see pdf in post 1.

it shows the almost position needed.   the bottoms flush, facing faces touching and angle faces in line....

i could not figure out how to 'joint' this together 😞

i havent used components a lot as i most do single piece cad to cam to cnc stock removal 🙂

many thanks for your input
