Help Needed: 3D Printing a Model with Volumetric Lattice

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a 3D model in Autodesk Fusion that includes a Volumetric Lattice structure, and I would like to 3D print it. However, I’m not sure about the correct workflow and best practices to prepare the file for printing.

Could anyone guide me through the process or share tips on:

  • How to properly export a model with a Volumetric Lattice for 3D printing?

  • What file format is recommended to ensure the lattice prints correctly?

  • Any specific slicer settings or precautions I should be aware of?

I’d greatly appreciate your advice or any tutorials/resources you could recommend.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Can you share your file or images? Will you use Fusion as your Slicer or something like Orca? What printer?

Hello, firstly, you may need to convert the Volumetric Lattice to a mesh with the following steps:

  • In the browser, find the volumetric lattice you want to convert.
  • Right-click on the volumetric lattice, select "Convert" from the context menu.
  • A Convert dialog box appear allowing you to set parameters for the conversion. You can set parameters such as mesh refinement (high, medium, low) and other relevant options. Set the output to "Mesh".
  • Run the Conversion to generate the mesh from the volumetric lattice.
  • Select the mesh, right-click, and choose "Save As Mesh". Choose your preferred file format (e.g., STL, OBJ) and save the file to your desired location.
