Having trouble getting model correct

Hi all,

New to Fusion 360 and trying to understand it, and trying to understand where I have made mistakes.

I am 3D scanning and reverse engineering a product for my car. I have got the shape that I mostly correct but the surface is very uneven and rough. I have 3d printed the product too see what it looks like but seems like it needs a lot of work. I am just stuck as to how to smooth the surface of the product properly and make all the edges and corners smooth.

Any advice would be helpful.

It's hard to see from your File that has just a Form Body...We don't know where you're coming from and we don't know where you're heading...Can you provide the Scan data and a few good photos of the original part?

Your file screen shot:

Converting a .stl scan of a mechanical part by means of re-meshing the .stl into a quad mesh and converting it into a solid body is almost always the wrong workflow. Where did you pick this workflow up?

This should be re-designed from scratch using Fusion 360's native tools.

Here is one video that explains a valid workflow:

Hi,

That video came up in my YouTube feed (so the YouTube AI that tracks me isn't completely stupid).

I hadn't got around to watching it yet but I am glad I did now. Way too advanced for where I am

right now, but good to file away for the future.

Cheers

Andrew
