Having trouble finding new component option on the latest version of fusion 360

I cannot find the new component option in the new version of fusion 360 in any menu when starting a new part. But when I load a part that I made in the previous version of fusion it is in the menus. I am new to this program and I am using the learn fusion in 30 days by Keven Kennedy and he uses the new component option a lot. Is there somewhere that the option can be turned off?

Why is it that this context menu constantly disappears even before I've the chance to "Create Sketch"?

Why is it that when my computer goes to sleep, after it wakes up, Fusion just shows an empty white frame and there's no way on earth to get back to it short of just killing it? (Which then at some point comes to that I have to tell Fusion to terminate "that other session over there", lest I want to sign out completely)

Why is it that on a Mac, when I go to a different virtual desktop, regularly my "object tree" comes along with me, but not the Fusion window (which is where the object tree should stay anyway), and then when I get to the Fusion window, I don't see the object tree anymore as it is behind the window - until I just open a new tab and close it again?

Just three random examples of "other annoyances" that yet hit me every single day.

I still have all the format options after changing the model type.

In my opinion this is a dumb design choice on Fusion 360s part.  They are making it more convoluted as they make it 'easier' to use.

Give the Autodesk team time to transform it into something good with a proper function... (not something to say YES! We made a MASSIVE EDIT – that's us done for the year.)

Just stick to the hybrid design for now. As this is the closest to "before update Fusion" as you will get in my opinion, I personally haven't changed any of my workflows or anything since the update; all I did was set my preference to "Hybrid Design" and ignore the pop-up box at the beginning, preferring to just press "close" than even take a second glance at it. As you can see from the screenshot below, I can still model what I want to, the exact same as I used to before this update.

Hiding the "New Component" option is absolutely silly in my opinion. Creating a new component is practically the first step in rendering 3D parts. Why hide this option in such a convoluted way? I don't get it whatsoever!

I concur. It's an endless nuisance how so many software companies love to throw wrenches into their users' existing workflows simply for the love of the game. Or "Intent-driven Design." Or whatever other buzzword they've got flying around the office that month.

We shouldn't have to keep doing constant refresher training on basic tools as if we were medical doctors following new research.

Actually, the very foundation of Fusion since the beginning was that it would change every few weeks.

I'm not sure if anyone at Autodesk is paying attention to this thread, but in case they are:

Could we please have a Create Sketch command on the context menu for Components in the project tree?

Create Component is now only available as a command on the context menu for the parent project/component we want to add it to. I avoids some errors if the UI forces us to thereby select the parent explicitly (even if we were temporarily disoriented by Create Component disappearing from the CREATE menu.)

But if that was a good idea, then surely the same applies to Create Sketch?  I don't know how many times I've created a sketch, only to discover many steps later that evidently the wrong component was selected when I did so.  And with subsequent features dependent on that sketch, one may or may not be successful recovering from that mess.

Currently, not only does the UI not force us to command Create Sketch from the containing component's context menu, it actively precludes us from doing so, because there is not Create Sketch on that menu. (Though there is Create Drawing -- which probably confuses some new users who don't know that a drawing is not a sketch).

Just a thought.
