geometry on intersection of the plane and solid body

Hello,

Is it any way to create geometry (lines, arcs ... ) as a result of intersection of the plane and existing body so I can use it in a sketch?

I am trying to use split face or body but I do not want to affect existing body.

Thanks

When you create a sketch on the plane, just use the PROJECT > INTERSECT command to get whatever is sliced by the plane.

I have model of the part from customer and I am trying to modify it to stock size so I can use it in CAM for simulation.

Any other ideas on how to create a stock model for part like that? I have attached entire file.

Thanks

What area needs to be modified?  Do you have the other half of the model?

If you're just changing the diameter or shape of a flange, then

  • Create the new geometry in the sketch.
  • Use the Split tool to isolate the change area from the main body.
  • Use the Revolve tool to create a new body with the changes.
  • Join the new body to the main body and Remove the old body.

Basically, I have to fill in all the holes and add additionally about .02 per side. The other halve is just hidden, just turn off  Analysis sections

I would create a small cylinder that will fill one of holes completely. Use a sketch on the face to create the cylinder.

Create a pattern using the small cylinder to create bodies at each hole position.

Use Combine|Join to fill the holes.

Once the holes are filled you could try the Press/Pull command or the Revolve command to increase the diameter of a flange.  If the entire body needs to be enlarged, then the Shell command may work.

The projected body needs to be earlier in the Timeline in order to project to a sketch.  If it is not, you can project to a new sketch then move that sketch earlier in the Timeline.

Project > Intersect, has an option for selecting a body.

Your sketch has a lot of holes in the outline, so would be better to set options to Body, select the body then hide the body.

should have. Sketch, with a few blue shed regions.

Use Divide and conquer to fix that sketch.

Might help….
