Fusion won't select anything useful

So I've wasted the obligatory 45 minutes trying to get Fusion to do something useful.

I'm just trying to select a curve. I want to select the edge of the 2nd curve down (the one in the middle of the hole) but Fusion has objected to this. The picture below is a 2 step hole through material. Since I started Fusion this morning, the only thing it will select is the opening at the top of the hole. Which is dumb, since there is no material there. I would think when you point to a material and click the mouse, Fusion would select the thing you're pointing at, not the invisible item that doesn't exist over the top of it.

Is there something similar to "select filters" in fusion like in Solidworks? (if you get those set wrong in SW it will refuse to select stuff). Because Fusion doesn't have any actual menus I can't peruse through them to check, and Fusion's help answered "LOL. Just Give Up." It's all tribal knowledge.

So as is usual, I will now put off the job I was going to do today and come back later in hopes Fusion is in a better mood. It is frustrating knowing I can never quote a customer job if it involves Fusion because there is no way to estimate the number of hours that will be wasted trying to tell the world's most advanced software in 2018 to drill a hole.

You can find selection filters here: Select -> Selection Filter. You can also long left-click to select hidden targets or targets behind something.

IMHO: If you want to work with SW you should choose SW.

Filter.JPGIn addition, Select>Priority>Select Edge Priority, and Select>Selection Filter>uncheck everything but Body Edges.

Changing the view might help- Display Settings>Visual Style>Shaded with Visible Edges Only.

It may be something contextual is involved- sharing your design would help determine that- File> Export> Save local>Attach the design to your response here.

one other thing to check:  I can't tell from your screenshot, but were you in sketch mode at the time?  If so, Fusion will only allow you to select sketch geometry from the active sketch.  This is to prevent you from inadvertently making changes to sketch geometry from other sketches, such as dragging.

I reckon the selection depicted must be a Sketch Profile; what we have been shown is represented to be a hole in a larger solid-  so, for the area selected to be selected in this context, it would most likely be a Sketch element overlaying the hole.   It may be his selection filter is set to not allow through-selecting, as, in Sketch or no, the edge of a Body should otherwise be selectable.    Of course, Kevin could just be punKing us- and all might be Sketch elements located in discrete Sketches.    Do us a solid, Kevin- change your View Style to Solid with Visible Edges Only, and record a Screencast of your workflow.

Thank you all for the replies.

My "SELECT" menu (the one on the right end with the little down carrot), when clicked, only shows a single item "Select" with a green rectangle next to it. I do not get all the options shown in the image from mavigogun above. Just the "Select" above the top grey line in that image.

I was finally able to select the circle after I deleted all the sketches. I don't think I was in "sketch mode". There was no "stop sketch" button. This part was an imported file, which normally works okay in Fusion. If I created a sketch on the top plane of the part then stopped the sketch, it appears it would only let me select the sketch plane, even if it wasn't active. So I guess as long as I never need to use sketches I'll be okay. Smiley LOL

I'm at a loss. Could this have something to do with the new UI preview?

Was toggling the visibility of the Sketches not enough? What sort of imported file?
