Fusion STL Download Issue: Trying to rename my design, A360 somehow lost ist

Hi,

I'm in trouble, sitting in a hotel without my the stl files to a design I did for a contest closing soon. I also don't have Fusion here, so I logged into my A360 account (jost@schenck.de) and tried to download an stl. Now, the file is called "Vertical Bubble Machine" (with spaces, project "MagicCauldron") and A360 stl export seems to have a problem with this, giving me only a file "Verticel" without extension. I tried to rename the file in A360, and now it only shows up as "Wird gespeichert..." ("being saved ...") and I can't open it anymore. Is it possible to restore my work so I can access it?

And, if that's possible, is there some way to export single STLs from the components in a file from A360, instead of one STL for all?

Thank you very much!!

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear this! Let's try to get you back on track. To my knowledge  I don't believe you can export individual components as STL files within A360 (I know you can in Fusion 360 however). Just to check - are you still in a time crunch to get this STL exported correctly? If so, what we can do is have you invite me to the project (james.youmatz@autodesk.com) and I can try to export the correct components from Fusion as the STL files and send you those.

Regarding this topic, can you open a different version of the file and have it work? For instance, if you click the file in the A360 viewer, you should get the option for a drop down list with versions. Can you try the last version and see if that has any affect? (Assuming that there isn't a design change or anything like that).

Thanks,

Thank you very much for your help -- the problem persists, but it's not as
urgent anymore, as my brother was able to login at home and send me the
STLs I had exported before.

As for the problem in A360: I suppose you're referring to the web ui of
A360, as that's the only viewer I know, apart from Fusion 360 on the
desktop. In there I can't open the design anymore -- it shows up in the
project with the name suggesting that it's being saved, if I click on it to
open, I get a "Bad request" error. Clicking on the arrow down gives me the
option to upload a new version, not open an old one.
I have invited you to the project in case this helps you seeing what's
wrong.

Thank you very much for your help! If I'm not fast at answering right now,
that's because I'm on hiking vacation and not often near a PC, but I'll try
my best.

HI @Anonymous,

I chatted with some of my team members about this and at this point I am kind of stumped as to what is happening within A360. This seems to be directly related to the A360 viewer (as everything works fine within Fusion 360). I went ahead and logged the issue with their team in the meantime however.

Thanks,

Thank you for forwarding it to the right folks. Last question: do I understand you right, that you were able to open the corrupted design in Fusion360? That would be a great relief for me, as I was afraid my original design might be lost ...

Thank you,
Jost

Hi @Anonymous,

Yep, the model opens just fine for me in Fusion. I thought this was the case for you as well? Does the model not open for you in Fusion 360?

Thanks,

Here in my vacation I can not install Fusion, but only use the A360 web
viewer, which I used to include a dynamic view into an instructable, when
this problem happened. The included view now only shows an error message in
the instructable (step 3 in
http://www.instructables.com/id/Magic-Cauldron-Blowing-Glowing-Bubbles)
from A360 "Server encountered an unexpected error". But I'm glad the
original design file isn't lost, thank you!

BTW: I have no idea where to express my complete amazement about how
fantastic Fusion is and how good it advances. I've done things with it I
would never in my life done without it, it is wonderful that it's free for
hobbyists and startups and obviously even the the support for non-paying
hobbyists is top 🙂 Again: Thank you!

Update: by downloading an F3D archive file and reuploading it as a different design file, I at least managed to get my interactive embedded A360 view of the design working. The problem in A360 still persists, but my difficulties now are solved. Thank you very much again for your help!
