Fusion file complexity (body count) limits?

We had our manufacturing facility laser scanned by a company who provided us models of the physical plant "shell" (walls, ceiling, columns, trusses and major ducting only) in Fusion and Revit files. A Fusion file of a typical building may contain as many as 55,000 bodies. In working with these files system response is VERY slow (some operations take as long as 30 minutes to execute).
Is there a practical limit to how many bodies a Fusion model should contain? 55,000 seems far too excessive to me and the system response seems to confirm this.
Thank you for any help.
