this creates and inscribed polygon. is there a similar way to create a circumscribed polygon?

Here's a way to create a polygon using a feature pattern rather than a sketch pattern.

First create a base body to join the pattern to.

Then extrude the triangle set to join.

Now pattern the extrude feature.

If you edit the pattern and change the amount of flats it updates as a single body.

Hope this might give users an idea how to do this in other situations and pattern types. File's attached.

Also @emmagolson  sorry for late reply, this is an example of how to create a circumscribed polygon.

Another Forum user show me this method, I thought I would use you model, and parameters, to show it.  The secret is to create a Boundary Fill with the Join operation selected and then do a Feature Pattern of the Boundary Fill with the Compute Type set to Adjust.  If the bodies touch, it will join together automatically.  Thanks for the use of your model.

From the process perspective, it doesn't matter whether the polygon is to be inscribed or circumscribed on a circle. It's just a matter of deciding and assigning the appropriate constraint (coincidence or tangency).
