Hi Everyone,
I've been using fusion for a few months and am really enjoying it over other software i have used in the past, but I had some questions that I was hoping a few of you could answer.
The bulk of the work i have been doing is with positioning very detailed equipment models in a larger assembly ( Building Sized). Then generating drawings from these models. The model side of things runs smooth as can be on my machine. Equipment specs (Will be relevant for next question):
CPU: Ryzen 2700X
Ram: 16GB DDR4 @ 3600mhz
SSD: WD 256gb NVME
GPU: GTX 1080
Now when I go to make drawings from any equipment, the step files would be over 20mb, up to 500mb. Now generating the base view, I can usually power thru that in anywhere from 20 seconds, and maybe 5 minutes for the larger files. Now, when I want to make section views, it seems to be a real struggle. For example, the relatively simple 20mb files can take 5-10 minutes to generate a section view. Now, the good thing is that my cpu doesn't really go past 20% usage, and my GPU, pretty much sits idle @ 5%. And for a 20mb file, I would be at around 50% ram usage, when running other things in background aside from fusion. So my PC is still usable, but I struggle to understand why fusion locks up, and I get the classic black bar over the browser column while it tries to generate a section view. But Fusion appears to be sitting what I would consider to be idle. See attached images.
Something else i have noticed, that if I take a section view that is the same as the projected view. The projected view will generate about 20 times faster than that of the section view that would look the same. Not sure if the software gets stuck looking for something to cut through or something.
Now my example was for the smaller faster files, as when I try to do it with the larger models, 500mb in step form, they take in excess of 2 hours to generate the section views, if they even work, 90% of the time fusion just crashes after hours of sitting at like 10% usage, and doesn't appear to be starved of Ram, CPu, or GPU.
If anyone can comment with any of there personal experiences with similar circumstances and any workarounds they found that would be great.
PST. I know I need more ram, for the larger files, usually need around 32gb. So my paging files gets a bit large then.
Thanks in advance
